What is the SHC wedding day experience?

Every couple experiences their wedding day differently, and my role is to meet you where you are.

If you're calm and soaking it all in, I'll be calm alongside you. If you're laughing, dancing, and full of excitement, I'll celebrate with you. My goal is to match your energy while being a steady, reassuring presence throughout the day.

I'll gently guide you when direction is helpful and step back when moments deserve to unfold naturally. Behind the scenes, I'm anticipating what's next, communicating with your vendor team, watching the light, and keeping portraits efficient so you can stay present.

My approach blends documentary storytelling with soft editorial portraits—capturing both the beautifully composed images you'll frame and the genuine, unscripted moments that tell the story of your day.

By the end, my hope is that you don't just leave with beautiful photographs—you leave feeling like you truly experienced your wedding day. Because years from now, I want you to remember not only how it looked, but exactly how it felt.

How do you approach timeline planning?

At the heart of an SHC timeline is the desire to create a wedding day that feels lived in, not rushed.

Behind the scenes, I'm incredibly Type A about timeline planning. Every SHC couple receives a detailed, completely customized photography timeline built around your priorities, venue, lighting, and the natural flow of your day. From travel and sunset to family portraits, vendor logistics, and buffer time, every detail is considered with intention.

Rather than packing the day from beginning to end, I build in breathing room for deep breaths, quiet moments, and the in-between interactions that often become your favorite memories.

I do the over-planning so you don't have to. By the time your wedding arrives, you can trust that the details have been thoughtfully considered, giving you the freedom to simply be present and enjoy it.

What Does "Moments Meant to Be Lived In, Deeply Felt, and Beautifully Personal" Really Mean?

It means creating a wedding day that's slow, intentional, and lived in—not rushed.

It's being fully present in each space, conversation, and emotion instead of constantly thinking about what's next. Taking a deep breath before walking down the aisle. Lingering in a hug with your parents. Laughing with your friends while getting ready. Stealing a quiet moment with your new spouse. Looking around your reception and taking in everyone gathered to celebrate you.

The most meaningful moments are rarely the ones written on the timeline. They're the ones that unfold naturally in between—the fleeting interactions, joyful tears, quiet glances, and memories you never knew would become your favorites.

How would you describe your style? At Simply Hunny Co., our style is all about blending the cozy rawness of documentary moments with the fun, graceful feel of soft, stylistic imagery. Think of it as a blend of candid and gently posed, so your photos feel timeless, a little playful, and like imagery that just feels like home—like the feeling of your feet on summer grass or a freshly lit candle in your favorite room. That’s exactly how I want your photos to feel.

Do you help with posing and candid shots? Absolutely! I create a Pinterest board for every session to keep things fresh and unique. That way, no two sessions feel the same. Sometimes my brides have their own vision boards too, and I love collaborating to blend my creativity with yours. It's all about making each session feel like a new adventure.

What inspires you? Honestly, it’s the relationships. I love when brides feel like family. It’s the sweetest thing when bridesmaids tell me they’d love to have me at their wedding someday or when I get invited to baby showers down the road. That connection and the feeling that we’re not just capturing photos but building lifelong memories together—that’s what inspires me.

How many weddings do you take each year? I cap it at around 4 to 8 weddings a year. It’s all about quality over quantity, so I can tailor each experience and focus on every couple. I want each wedding to feel intentional and personal, not rushed.

Do you photograph more than just weddings? Yes, I also do couples, maternity, and documentary-style family sessions. It’s such a joy to see past couples again or meet new families and just capture those cozy, milestone moments beyond the wedding day.

Why do couples choose SHC? It’s the cozy feeling in the imagery, for sure, but it’s also the personal touch. I’m all about planning a detailed, seamless timeline so your day goes off without a hitch. I’ve had so many brides tell me they couldn’t have done the day without me, and that’s the best compliment I could ever hear. It’s that combination of heartfelt imagery and a well-organized, calm approach that makes SHC special.

Do you travel for weddings? Yes, yes, and yes! I’m always thrilled to travel anywhere in the U.S.—whether it’s the mountains, the coast, or the desert —the rates remain the same, with small flight, lodging, and rental car support. I’m really looking forward to boosting my travel for weddings in the next couple of years—so it’s a fun adventure I can’t wait to dive into more.

What’s required to book? To officially secure your date, a 50% non-refundable retainer is required at booking. The remaining 50% is due 14 days before your wedding. If the full 50% upfront doesn’t feel like the best fit, SHC offers a split option of 25% + 25% to get you booked, with the remaining 50% still due 14 days prior to your day. From there, you’re welcome to pay off that remaining balance in installments at any pace that works best for you. Once your proposal is signed, you’ll receive a welcome email from Simply Hunny Co. with a direct link to your invoice. You can favorite or save that email so you always have easy access to make payments whenever you’d like. Everything is done online—simple, flexible, and designed to make this part of the process feel really easy for you.

How long until we receive our photos? For engagement or family sessions, you’ll have your gallery within one to three weeks. For weddings, it’s typically about four to eight weeks. And don’t worry—you’ll get a sneak peek of 30 to 50 photos within 72 hours of your wedding day, so you can relive the magic right away.

Do you offer videography? Yes! SHC is officially offering videography starting in 2026 for the right circumstances, and by 2027, we’ll have full videography packages on the website. It’s an exciting new chapter that I can’t wait to share with you all.

If SHC were a movie genre… If SHC were a genre of movie, it would absolutely be a Nancy Meyers film — The Holiday, The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride, anything in that world. That is exactly what I want SHC to feel like — cozy, timeless, golden, full of warmth and home. I’m literally giggling right now. I have goosebumps. My whole body feels tingly. Yes, yes, yes. The Holiday is one of my favorite movies of all time, and if my business and my photos can feel even a little like that movie… I’d honestly faint.

Editing soundtrack or show? I’m a YouTube girl through and through. Cozy vloggers are my go-to — the kind that make you feel snug and inspired all at once. I also love having an audiobook on while I edit. Throne of Glass will forever have my heart — truly one of the best adventure series I’ve ever read.

Where do you edit most days? It depends on the day (and the vibe). Sometimes I’m at my kitchen table, sometimes cozied up on the couch or in bed, and sometimes I’ll hop on my walking pad in my office. Other days, you’ll find me at a coffee shop that feels like it’s straight out of a 90s rom-com.

What’s in your camera bag? Honestly, it's more like a camera wagon. It’s my little mobile hub with all of my gear, snacks, a change of clothes, and everything I could possibly need for a wedding day. My camera bag is packed with cameras, lenses, way too many batteries and SD cards "just in case," plus my film camera and a roll or two of film. Then there's my little SOS bag with hair ties, electrolytes, chapstick, lotion, hand sanitizer, and all the little things that help a long day run smoothly. It might be a little overprepared, but I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around.

Dream day off? Starting with a good coffee and a stroll through the farmers market or doing a little seasonal activity, then antiquing for treasures to add to our home (I'm currently on a mission to create the perfect plate wall). Throw in a cozy candle, really good food, something around the house with my husband, and ending the day with a movie, and that's about as perfect as it gets.

Current favorite color? Butter yellow — a soft, creamy, true yellow. Not too bright or bold, just that warm, gentle shade that feels timeless, cozy, and full of sunshine.

What do you collect? Stickers from every new place I travel and far too many coffee mugs. They’ve become my unofficial souvenirs.

Favorite season to photograph in? Fall and summer — easily. There’s something about the warmth and color of fall, and the warm, hopeful feeling of summer that just fits the SHC rhythm perfectly.

Places you'd love to shoot? Neskowin, Oregon or Cannon Beach with Haystack Rock immediately come to mind. I’m also itching to photograph something on the East Coast—especially in New England. Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, or anywhere with windswept beaches, charming coastal towns, and that timeless East Coast feel would be an absolute dream.

A little mix of favorites and bucket-list dreams — these Minnesota and Wisconsin venues are places that just make me light up. Think cozy corners, beautiful architecture, and spaces that photograph like a dream.
